13th. September. 2021. Daily Devotion.

No temptation has overtaken you, but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it. ~ 1 Corinthians 10:13

There is no temptation so peculiar that somebody else has not faced it. There is no temptation so great that God cannot overcome it. There is no temptation that God will not help us to resist it: you just have to ask Him enough, for a spirit sent by God is the most powerful force in the universe.

So we do not need to let our lust, our pride, our greed, or even our silly superstitions control our behaviour. We may have committed a specific sin ten thousand times. We may be so attached to it that we ignore it or try to rationalize it. But the Bible promises us, we can overcome it, because an all-mighty God will help us. And we will be happier for giving it up.

Lord, let me always remember that you will give me the power to overcome any temptation. Amen. ~ Mason Barge

Prayer for the Day

Holy God, who taught the hearts of all faithful people by sending to them the light of your Holy Spirit; Grant me by the same Spirit to be guided in my work today, and in my every thought and deed and in everything I say. Let my decisions be wise and holy, and my ears open to your wisdom. And let me always be open to change; unstop my ears and soften my heart, so that I can learn your way better and better every hour of this day. Prayer in Times of Financial Distress

Dear Lord, Help me find firm ground in this shaky economy. As I seek work and assistance, give me strength not to be anxious when I seem to be going nowhere; give me patience not to despair when things look bleak; give me serenity to know you are here with me, helping me to carry my crosses each day. So that I may do Your will, for the salvation of souls and my eternal life. Amen.

Renew My Strength Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you that those who hope in you will have their strength renewed. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint. Your word brings life to those who hear you and health to the body for those who call on you. Please help me to pray to you in faith that you will hear. Help me increase and abound in love for others. May you establish my heart as blameless in holiness before you. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

For peace and safety amid unrest

O God, who would fold both heaven and earth in a single peace:
let the design of thy great love
lighten upon the waste of our wraths and sorrows:
and give peace to thy Church,
peace among nations,
peace in our dwellings,
and peace in our hearts:
through thy Son our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
