16th February. 2021. Daily Devotion.
14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. James 2:14-17
Salvation is a gift from God and can only be gained through His grace, and only if we have faith in Christ.
However, a person who is saved by Christ will reflect their salvation by a sincere, lifelong commitment to following God’s laws. We strive to live without sin. We try our utmost to follow the laws God has given us in His Holy Bible. MB
Prayer for One’s Home
Peace, unto this house, I pray,
Keep terror and despair away;
Shield it from evil and let sin
Never find lodging room within.
May never in these walls be heard
The hateful or accusing word.
Grant that its warm and mellow light
May be to all a beacon bright,
A flaming symbol that shall stir
The beating pulse of him or her
Who finds this door and seems to say,
“Here end the trials of the day.”
Hold us together, gentle Lord,
Who sit about this humble board;
May we be spared the cruel fate
Of those whom hatreds separate;
Here let love bind us fast, that we
May know the joys of unity.
Lord, this humble house we’d keep
Sweet with play and calm with sleep.
Help us so that we may give
Beauty to the lives we live.
Let Thy love and let Thy grace
Shine upon our dwelling place.
Amen. by Edgar Guest
For a Heart Open to God’s Word
God, as you gave us the sun to lighten our days, so you have given us your Word to lighten our minds and our souls. I pray that you will pour out on me your Spirit as I pray today, that my heart and mind may be opened to your Word, and that I may learn and accept your will for my life.
Shine within my heart, loving God, the pure light of your divine knowledge; open the eyes of my mind and the ears of my heart to receive your Word, this day and always, Amen.
All I know of Tomorrow
Loving Lord, in this time of anxiety, give me serenity. In this time of fear, give me confidence in You. In this time of illness, help me preserve my health and the health of all those around me. In this time of social isolation, let my phone calls be full of wisdom and compassion. In this time of worry, give me the courage to reaffirm my belief that ‘All I know of tomorrow is that Providence will rise before the Sun.’ Amen. J Burger
