7 Then Moses summoned Joshua and said to him in the presence of all Israel, ‘Be strong and courageous, for you must go with this people into the land that the Lord swore to their ancestors to give them, and you must divide it among them as their inheritance. 8 The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.’ Deuteronomy 31:7-8
Having been reborn in Christ, we know that it will be the Lord, in the person of the Holy Spirit, who will go before us in this life. He is the ultimate insurance policy; because no matter what happens, we are to be saved. Christ has proven beyond any doubt that He has complete power over death, which means, that even if the very worst might happen to us and our bodies are killed, the Lord will go before us with a guarantee of life; He will exercise even His power over death.
In fact, He has already done it. Not even a sparrow can fall to the ground without God knowing about it. (Matthew 10:29) He knows every hair on your head. Do you think He is not watching, in loving care, when you face any danger? So fear not. And furthermore, “neither be dismayed.” The first line tells us not to be afraid. The second, that we should not be cowed; we should not let anything in the world keep us from doing what we want to do if it is the right thing to do. God will not fail us. M Barge.
Lord God, let me always be bold in righteousness, knowing one hundred percent that you are with me. Amen.
Come to Our Aid
In the morning Abraham called upon you on the mountain top and you answered him, O lover of men; and in the morning I call upon you, come to my aid and the aid of all your servants, O God, full of mercy, hallelujah, and have mercy upon us. Amen.
~~~~~~~~
Grant us, O Holy Spirit, wisdom and understanding that we may receive your light; prudence and strength that we may persevere in faith; knowledge and awe that we may rest in you alone, fear and delight that we may rejoice in your love. Amen. Bonaventura (c.1217-1274)
Prayer for Renewal
O Creator God Great one who created the stars and the vast ocean depths.
Let me begin anew and bloom like the flowers, After a spring rain.
Free me from the pain of my past. Help me to unburden my mind and soul,
And begin again. Refresh my soul O Lord, let me move forward in hope.
Keep me from revisiting the thoughts and the pain that have held me down and frozen me in place. Let me find forgiveness for those who have injured me,
let me forgive my own mistakes and misdeeds. You are my compass and my anchor.
Please Lord let me have the strength, the strength to let go and to move, always toward your light, in Christ’s name Ipray. Amen.
Benediction
May the God of peace, who declared victory over death by the resurrection of His only Son, Jesus Christ, make me perfect in every thought and act through His grace, that my life might be pleasing in His sight and that I might share the perfect peace that is only possible through Him, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
