18th. February. 2022. Daily Devotion.

26 He (the Lord) said, ‘If you listen carefully to the Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you.’ Exodus 15:26

Our souls can become as sick as our bodies, and the effect is even more devastating in the long run. And it is God, and God alone, who can truly heal our soul. I believe people know it when their soul is suffering because they feel sick. Our soul is connected to our body and our emotions while we are alive on earth. If we eat poison, our body gets sick. If we listen to poisonous people, our emotions get sick. And if we allow ourselves to ingest spiritual poison, without repentance and a prayer for forgiveness, our very soul will become sick.

Feel this for yourself — and please, in a positive way! Don’t go out and take poison just to see if you get sick, but let God heal some part of your soul and see how it makes you feel, physically and emotionally, as well as spiritually.

We all have little sins hanging around that we could be doing a better job with. Just try working on it, praying on it, and avoiding it for one day, and see how you feel. You will find something missing — pain, perhaps pain that you have become so accustomed to that you didn’t even realize it hurt. Try it and see. M. Barge

Lord, help me to avoid this sin for a day, and cleanse me from it, that I might feel your mighty healing power. Amen.

Almighty God, we invoke you, the fountain of everlasting light and entreat you to send forth your truth into our hearts and to pour upon us the glory of your brightness, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen ~ from The book of Worship.

Lord, we offer ourselves today for the work you want accomplished. For the people you want us to meet, for the word you want to be uttered, for the silence you want to be kept, for the places you want us to enter, for the new ways you want pioneered. Go with us along the way, Lord, and enable us to realise your presence for all times and in all places, our loving Lord Jesus Christ. Amen Morris Maddock.

Prayer for peace

God of all grace, call to the nations of the earth to cease from strife, that all may join to fight not one another but their common force of want and ignorance, disease, and sin. Lead back mankind out of the way of death into the way of life; and from destruction to the building up of a new world of righteousness and peace, of liberty and joy. End the dark night of lies and cruelty; Bring in the dawn of mercy and truth. Amen.
