33Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! 34 ‘Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counsellor?’ 35 ‘Who has ever given to God, that God should repay them?’
36 For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory for ever! Amen. Romans 11:33-36
The riches of God’s wisdom and knowledge are so deep, we could never reach its depths. Just when we think we have a handle on this whole thing, the Lord changes our heart. It’s a constant growing experience, I believe, until we meet Him face to face. Until then, we just need to keep the faith, keep praying, keep loving, and keep on keeping on, until all is accomplished.
Knowing Him fully is impossible. Yet He tells us to accept His teaching and learn from Him. (Matthew 11:29) We need to study, seek, and learn, but realize that even when we search and search, we will never truly fathom all His ways. (Romans 11:33) Isaiah 55:8 says, “My thoughts are completely different from yours,” says the Lord, “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.” Our minds are limited to the boundaries of our God-given imagination. In faith if we make all things about God, not us, we will grow. He will bestow His peaceful Spirit, as we lean on His understanding, and trust in His truth, not ours. Jenny Calvert
Help me O Lord to learn more of you each day. I trust you fully. In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Amen.
Let us worship the Christ who draws near to each of us. Let us praise the Christ who loves the worst among us. Let us bless the Christ who shares with the least among us. Let us glorify the Christ who intercedes for all among us. Amen. Ann Griffiths (1776-1805)
Lord, your love knows no bounds. Help us to be ready for, make space for, and warmly welcome those among whom your Spirit is moving. Help your Church to be a safe place for all who are discovering your saving grace. May your kingdom come, and your will be done, here on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.
Give us courage, O Lord, to stand up and be counted, to stand up for those who cannot stand up for themselves, to stand up for ourselves when it is needful for us to do so. Let us fear nothing more than we fear you. Let us love nothing more than we love you, for thus we shall fear nothing also. Let us have no other god before you, whether nation or party or state or church. Let us seek no other peace but the peace which is yours, and make us its instruments, opening our eyes and our ears and our hearts, so that we should know always what work of peace we may do for you. Amen. Alan Paton.
Prayer for Evening
Hail, gladdening Light, of his pure glory poured
Who is the immortal Father, heavenly, blest,
Holiest of Holies, Jesus Christ our Lord!
Now I am come to the sun’s hour of rest,
The lights of evening round us shine,
I hymn the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit divine,
Worthiest are you at all times to be sung
With undefiled tongue,
