Be of Good Courage

23 Love the Lord, all his faithful people!  The Lord preserves those who are true to him, but the proud he pays back in full. 24 Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord. Psalm 31:23-24

Most of us, at some time in our life, get broken. Outwardly or inwardly, things just seem so bad that they cannot be fixed. But the fact is, if you have faith and hold the course, God is going to fix it. If you are suffering right now, realize what it means to be of good courage. If you can just keep going and hold onto your faith, God has guaranteed that things will turn out beyond your highest expectations.

It takes time and patience and, sometimes, simply sucking it up to get through a horrible situation: a terrible disease, the death of a child or spouse, bankruptcy — the list of agonizing pain that life can bring is long and wide. But here is how we are helped. Once your find your faith, that wall of black despair has a window in it. When life turns pitch black, your faith will lead you to a door handle. You might not be able to find happiness quickly, but at least you can see the possibility; and once you see the possibility, once you have the courage to take your problem to God, He will strengthen your heart.

We have God’s promise that He will bring us to a place of beauty and happiness, where no tear will be shed. So if you think you are broken beyond repair, take it to God, and be filled with His promise, that you will be healed. M. Barge

Lord God, let me never despair; for our hope is certain. Amen.

Martin Luther’s Prayer for Morning

I give thanks to you, heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ your dear Son, that you have protected me through the night from all danger and harm. I ask you to preserve and keep me, this day also, from all sin and evil, that in all my thoughts, words, and deeds I may serve and please you. Into your hands I commend my body and soul and all that is mine. Let your holy angels have charge of me, that the wicked one have no power over me. Amen.

Advent Prayer

In this season of expectation we prepare to welcome Christ Jesus, Messiah.
Into the bustle of our lives and the hard to find moments of solitude we prepare to welcome Christ Jesus, Messiah.                                                                                           Into our homes and situations along with friends and families we prepare to welcome Christ Jesus, Messiah.
Into our hearts, and those often hidden parts of our lives we prepare to welcome Christ Jesus, Messiah.
For beneath the surface of your story is an inescapable fact. You entered this world
as vulnerable as any one of us in order to nail that vulnerability to the cross.
Our fears, our insecurities and our sins all that can separate us from God exchanged by your Grace for Love.
We cannot comprehend the reasoning only marvel that Salvation comes to us through a baby born in a stable and reaches out to a world in need.
In this season of anticipation we prepare to welcome Christ Jesus, Messiah. Amen.
