North Queensferry Church

9th. March. 2021. Daily Devotion.

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. John 3:16-17

The Bible says, “For God so loved the world.” Who exactly is the world? The world is you, and me, and everyone from every generation; those in the past, those in the future. It does not matter the size, colour, shape, sexuality, or nationality, if you are a human being than you are the world, and God loves you! If you have too many tattoos, or body piercings, or maybe you are gay, or your hair is purple, you feel shunned. For those in the church that make you feel unwelcomed, I apologize. I want to assure you that Jesus is not like that. He welcomes all, including the narrow minded, judgmental person, treating you differently. You see, we are all sinners, saved by grace. It is nothing we did or did not do. It is a gift from God.

This gift is available to everyone, not just an elite group of people. Jesus did not come to condemn you, but to give you abundant life. If you feel unwelcomed in your church, maybe it’s time to find a new one. Jesus loved the world, and if you’re in this world, you fit right in His arms. ~ J. Calvert

Dearest Saviour, thank you for your love that included even me. Amen

Prayer for Guidance

Lord, teach me to number my days aright, that I may gain wisdom of heart. Help me do today the things that matter, not to waste the time I have.

The moments I have are precious, Lord, see that I count them dear. Teach me to number my days aright. Fill me this day with your kindness, that I may be glad and rejoice all the days of my life. Through Christ I pray, Amen.

Coronavirus Prayer

You call us to speak to you in prayer– even when the places we would usually go to are not available.
Help us to know you Spirit’s presence wherever we pray.
Today we especially pray for those who are living in fear – give them your strength.
For those who have not yet realised the urgency of the situation – protect them, and all of us from harm. Today we ask your healing and blessing for those who have other health challenges for whom treatment is delayed or unavailable.
Today I especially want to pray for …….
In the name of Jesus.  Amen

Lent prayer

Merciful God, you know our fears and failings.  Accept our humble, contrite hearts and forgive us our sins. Turn our hearts toward you again and grant us the grace to forgive others as you have forgiven us through your son, Jesus.  Amen.
