Secure in His Grasp

24 To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy – 25 to the only God our Saviour be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and for evermore!  Amen.  Jude 24.

I have leaned on you since the day I was born; you have been my God since my mother gave me birth. Psalm 22:10

“God is strong and can help you not to fall” (Jude 24). You and I are on a great climb. The wall is high, and the stakes are higher. You took your first step the day you confessed Christ as the Son of God. He gave you his harness—the Holy Spirit. In your hands he placed a rope—his Word.

Your first steps were confident and strong, but with the journey came weariness, and with the height came fear. You lost your footing. You lost your focus. You lost your grip, and you fell. For a moment, which seemed like forever, you tumbled wildly. Out of control. Out of self-control. Disoriented. Dislodged. Falling.

But then the rope tightened, and the tumble ceased. You hung in the harness and found it to be strong. You grasped the rope and found it to be true. And though you can’t see your guide, you know him. You know he is strong. You know he is able to keep you from falling. from A Gentle Thunder M Lucado.

Dedication

Lord, with deep humility I thank you and glorify you, that you hear the prayer of one so small as myself, amidst the billions of souls among billions of stars in one of billions of galaxies in your universe. Let me live in your peace, keeping your Spirit always in my mind; and bless me that I may always follow your will and rest within the radiance of your blessing. Amen.

Prayer to Live Today with God

Dear Lord, I thank you for today. I thank you that I can see or hear your Word this morning. Let me give thanks all day for what I have, especially your eternal love, and forgive me when I go astray, by my thoughts or actions; my only aim is to please you, to know and do your will. Guide my every step.

Help me to live with wisdom and discretion that I may not fall short of your glory. Protect me from danger, both in the world and in my attitudes. Give me the gift of a clear mind, that I might hear the quiet voice of your Spirit. Help to wash away resentment and blame for things gone by, that might eat my energy and poison my mind; instead, help me to look in the moment at what I can do, to work for the future. Do not let me become frustrated when I cannot control events, for you are in charge, not me; and I put my entire faith in your power, your knowledge, your guidance. Help me to remember that you are my Shepherd and Guide today. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Covid 19 Prayer

Lord Jesus, during Your ministry on Earth You showed Your power and caring by healing people of all ages and stations of life from physical, mental, and spiritual ailments. Be present now to people who need Your loving touch because of COVID-19. May they feel Your power of healing through the care of doctors and nurses, carers, family and friends.

Take away the fear, anxiety, and feelings of isolation from people receiving treatment or under quarantine. Give them a sense of purpose in pursuing health and protecting others from exposure to the disease. Enable everyone to remain strong during times of lockdown and restriction.  Protect their families and friends and bring peace to all who love them. In Jesus Name, Amen.  Book of Common Worship PCUSA.
