North Queensferry Church

Forthview – five churches, one parish

On 1st January 2024, Forthview Church was created with Rosyth, North Queensferry, Inverkeithing, Dalgety and St Fillan’s, Aberdour churches all working together to share a common pool of resources.

Because of the decline in the number of ministers and finance, the Church of Scotland proposed a reorganisation of all the churches in Scotland. Fife Presbytery produced a Mission Plan and it was agreed that the Fife churches join into clusters to share and pool resources.

The plan was agreed by the five churches and approved by Presbytery and the Church of Scotland; it will take approximately 5 years to  implement fully.

The sharing of resources means that there will be one Kirk Session and three full time equivalent ‘ministers’.  As the details are gradually worked out, it will be a time of challenge for us all giving new opportunities for mission and working together.

This will be a time of change, but also a time of excitement as we move to work together.

Here are announcements about the creation of Forthview parish from Interim Moderator Fergus Duncan, and the official Forthview Church Press Release.

The Forthview Banner was made by members of all five churches symbolising the unity of the five churches and the River Forth running past them. It was on display at Dalgety Church at the Service of Union joining:

Rosyth, North Queensferry, Inverkeithing, Dalgety and St Fillan’s, Aberdour.
